Positive Developments in Melville
A few positive developments happening in Melville
The old Oh Bar on the corner of 4th Avenue and Main Road is presently undergoing renovations with new tenants. Due to the work in progress the drug dealers who used to sit outside Oh Bar have now moved off during the day, making the corner cleaner and people are now able to walk up the road without being harassed by these individuals.
Since the closure of Berlin, the owners of the Loft Restaurant have taken over the shop and are going to expand the Loft.
Sakura Sushi have moved to the corner of 7th Street and 3rd Avenue, having taken over the old Paros Restaurant premises. They have done a fantastic job in renovating the restaurant and bringing life back to that corner.
Six Cocktail Bar has taken over the premises vacated by Sakura Sushi and are presently expanding Six.
The positive side of these developments, is that no new tenants will be moving into premises vacated, and the business owners who are expanding their businesses are further investing in 7th Street for the upliftment of the Street. Their financial investment and quick thinking, to prevent unknown individuals from renting premises in 7th Street, thereby stonewalling any attempts at new bars opening, is an indication of their desire to clean up the area. These business owners should be supported by locals for their initiative and confidence, that Melville will become, the place to be entertained, and that Melville has a future for reputable and caring business owners.
Well said -- Melville is definitely on the up! A fashion boutique has also opened on 4th and a Mexican restaurant will soon open at Tokyo Star's old premises. Any idea what's going in at the Oh Bar?
When the new bar opens on the corner of 4th Avenue and main road,
we will keep our fingers crossed that it will exorcise GREGG WIGGILLS
demon.
The new establishment opening up in place of the old Oh Bar is called Contreau Versial. Previous discussions with representatives of the owners shed no light on what their plans were at the venue. Suffice to say that negotiations to take over the liquor license of Oh BAR, fell through for various reasons. It appears as though they wish to sell alcohol on the premises. Those premises were not sound proofed and the noise emanating from there was at times disturbing residents, although when requested , music was turned down.
The representatives were advised of residents concerns with bars and night clubs, I certainly hope they take heed of the concerns and are considerate of the people who live in the immediate vicinity.
We support all business owners in their ventures, on condition they abide by the laws set out, and respect others who live in the area.
Looking forward to seeing what the new establishment offers by way of entertainment and its contribution to the upliftment of Melville
At last a newer, better sushi bar in Melville -- NOT.
We ate there just a few days ago. The sushi was just ok and the staff have zero training. Our mouths dropped when the friendly waiter emptied all left overs, including a spring roll, wasabi and soya straight into the ice bucket! get it together Sakura, you time may be very limited.
Bring back Paros.
