Department of Finance & Investment Management - Annual Prize Giving

The Department of Finance & Investment Management held their Annual Prize Giving event at the Johannesburg Country Club, on Friday, 25 March 2011.
The Guest Speaker was Mr Theo Vorster, well-known economist & CEO of Galileo Capital.
The H.O.D. of DFIM, Prof Gideon Els, welcomed the students, the guests & staff of the Department.
The event was chaired by Mr Mahlatsi Maredi, lecturer in DFIM.
The following top students were awarded:
Ms Hannah Els – received the Top UJ Student in CIMA Strategic Level Exams - May 2010 Award - sponsored by Imperial Logistics - Mr Phillip De Wet.
Hannah completed her B.Com Honours (Financial Management) degree at UJ in November 2009. She wrote all three of the CIMA Strategic Level Exams in May 2010. Hannah obtained an average mark of 62% for the three strategic level exams. She got 68% for Enterprise Strategy, 61% for Performance Strategy and 58% for Financial Strategy. Hannah's mark of 68% for Enterprise Strategy was the highest mark in South Africa for the subject.
Mr Divan Bezuidenhout received the DFIM's Exceptional Achievement Award - sponsored by UJ & PPS - Mr Christoff du Plessis.
Divan completed his B.Com Finance degree at UJ in 2006 and his B.Com Honours (Financial Management) degree at UJ in 2007. Divan moved to London in 2008 where he worked as an Accountant and Financial Manager for about 18 months. He returned to South Africa towards the end of 2009 and wrote and passed the CIMA Strategic Level Exams in November 2009. Divan currently works for Franke (a Swiss kitchen and washroom systems manufacturer). Franke is part of the same group of companies as Defy Appliances.
Divan wrote the CIMA T4 Part B Final Case Study exam in November 2010. The results were released in January 2011 and he obtained the highest mark in South Africa with 72%. In addition, Divan's mark of 72% was spectacular enough to earn him the honour of the 7th highest mark in the world.
Mr Isheanesu Mungwari was the receiver of three remarkable awards:
