Pikitup strike ends
A strike by Pikitup employees in Johannesburg has ended, a company spokeswoman said on Monday.
"The illegal strike involving some Pikitup employees has ended and the roads have been cleared. Normal refuse collection has commenced," Pansy Jali-Oyedele said in a statement.
She asked that residents who had waste not picked up on Monday hold it back until next week.
"Pikitup is studying the contents of the memorandum which was submitted by the employees. The memorandum strongly suggests that there has been a misunderstanding between the employees and management."
Matters raised in the memorandum would be resolved "to the satisfaction of all affected parties".
