UJ to accommodate world cup visitors
The University of Johannesburg (UJ) will accommodate more than 5000 tourists in its residences around the city during the 2010 Fifa World Cup in June/July, it said on Wednesday.
UJ 2010 project management team head Flip van Zyl said they would accommodate 5500 people.
"UJ is gearing up to do its bit towards the 2010 Soccer World Cup in Johannesburg by offering safe and affordable residence accommodation.
"The income generated by this project will be used to further upgrade infrastructure and improve service delivery to our students," Van Zyl said.
Tourist will be accommodated at the Doornfontein, Auckland Park Bunting Road, and Auckland Park Kingsway campuses.
Meanwhile, the AW Muller sporting facility at the UJ's Auckland Park Bunting Road campus is the official training base camp for Serbia's soccer team for the duration of tournament.
