Berlin closes down
I have no doubt that many residents and neighbors will not be sorry to see the last of Berlin, as numerous complaints regarding noise emanating from that establishment were received regularly.
Nonetheless it is sad to see a business close down, at financial cost to the owners and the loss of much needed jobs.
Perhaps the next tenant will be more mindful of the residents and restore the ambience of 7th Street of days gone by.
Rather the DEVIL you know...
that's not much of an endorsement...
It's soo sad to see my Sunday night shrine close down!
The capital of Germany shall be missed dearly!
Wow! And i'm quite sure the majority of the "peace lovers" all around good old little Melville are so xtatic they're probably shaking hands, patting shoulders and sharing Sundowners by reason of this.
I am happy for you all too, especially since this means no more travelling long distances for me - all the way from Pretoria to give some of ya'll ignorant "residents" some of my money and bringing business to your little "heaven" - and spending at some of you all's ridiculously expensive stores.
I wish that i could have a following of all those people who feel the same. All those who feel deprived, denied and basically those who feel like they've been treated like crap. Yes i'm still bitter about the closure, why wouldn't I be? I'm feeling to take away so much business from Melville that they'd be forced to call it Hellville.
Yes, Newtown's been always there for us, we don't really NEED Melville as such. Newtown is undergoing a lot of change recently and Melville residents will NEVER be able to stick they BIG ASS NOSES into this one, they'll have to witness the boom by viewing the huge Mushroom cloud about to hit the skies.
It's not that we do not know what to do with our money, on the contrary, we actually do. Melville residents have given us a reason to be more mindful as to who and who's businesses we patronize. Yes, we thugs, hooligans and wreckers of peaceful places actually do go out and support that which we see as beneficial to us. Berlin was one of those places. Shivava Cafe on Thursday nights is one of those places, Kennys' Party People gigs is another one and there's a whole lot more.
Look out for yours and we'll look out for ours, right? That's the message i'm getting from the Melville folks' enforcement to close Berlin. Well then, at least when it comes to me, that's Mos Def' what you'll get. As far as I am concerned 'One man represents a thousand' and Melville would suffer greatly at the loss of 1000 frequent "out of Melville" visitors.
A Reinvestment into our own hoods and businesses is what i suggest and call for. After all, WE are the ones with the biggest buying power in the entire country. We could make us our own millionaires and create a hood far greater than that which looks like a drawing from some gothic era litterature.
Peace n' Love to you all.
P.S. If you support my suggestion, holler at me. Let's bring our minds together and see what brilliance we can master. Seemingly, we are not thought or even seen to posess such power. Let us help each other change that ignorant perception. WE ARE a force to be reckoned wit'.
Big Up!!!
U Know Me Well.
You must have been one of the few who actually bought booze inside Berlin instead of from the boot of a car parked on 7th. Yes, your patronage will be missed!
When it was around i hated it , but now that its gone, Melville is starting to lose its appeal , if its not all gone already. The place where i use to party is now just a place for quite drink.Rumor has it that there are no djs allowed in 7th street anymore. . . True?

This is your guide to partying in the suburb of Melville. Visitors to South Africa may know of Melville but not what to expect. We give you the skinny
