Car Theft @ Melville Gardens Flats

On the evening of the 29th of October 2009, a couple of friends and I
visited Swish on 7th avenue and we parked our cars on 2nd street. Mine was
parked a few metres from Melville Gardens Flats. We arrived there at around
07:10pm, only to find the car I was driving (a Polo Classic that belongs to
my brother) was missing at 10:45.
The car guard, who showed me where to park when I arrived, denied having seen my car which was quite irritating. We drove around to the next street to ask if the other guards had seen the car
or sensed any commotion as we stopped to ask them, they offered us dagga
and said they had seen nothing, that we must ask the other guard who was
watching my car for his notebook where he had recorded my car, but no luck.
As you can imagine, this incident has caused a lot of stress, I know that
as a community you are just as stressed as the rest of SA because of the
high level of crime, so I am hoping that forums like yours, do communicate
this info back to the police and hopefully those governing us.

The "guards"

My friend's car was stolen in the exact area, we have very good reason to believe that the guards are in on it. There are shady characters hanging out in this area as guards or friends with the guards - these are the people supposed to be preventing crime, but seem to be the biggest criminals in the area.
